A-Haunting We Will Go (1942)

A-Haunting We Will Go opens with our heroes, Laurel and Hardy, being warned to leave town after a night in jail. To accomplish that, the boys, who are down on their luck, take a job escorting a coffin to Dayton, Ohio. Yet unbeknownst to them, the coffin contains not a cadaver, but a notorious criminal, who is being smuggled to Dayton by this means to claim an inheritance. The trip has its perils, and the two are duped out of their money. Fortunately, Dante the Magician comes to their rescue, later provideing them with jobs in his show — a show that is disrupted by murder! As seems quite common for them, the movie ends on a weird note. Laurel and Hardy may have been past their prime by the 1940s, but they remain a welcome presence in a movie.

Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK.
