Cowboy Everett Tarkington John Clark (Bob Steele) looking forward to a long-awaited reunion with his mother stands in for a wounded pal, Marshal Lamar Blyth (Jack Rockwell), and sets out to round up the Kootney Kid (Earl Dwire) and his gang. The project becomes personal when he learns that the Kid is pretending to be him in order to get his inheritance, a ranch the Kid plans to lease to an oil company. Helping Clark out is his deaf sidekick, Bootch (Buck Connors), whose skill at lip-reading proves crucial to the plot. Some pleasing twists and a tense and yet amusing courtroom sequence add to the interest of this western, directed by Steele’s father, Robert N. Bradbury. Fans of Steele will enjoy it.
Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK.
