Pedestrian pacing and a poor script, together with a less-than-likeable main character, sink this 1970 action movie, based on the novel by Mickey Spillane and starring Christopher George as Morgan, the freelancer forced into helping out the government in a plan to rescue an imprisoned scientist. Yvette Mimieux is the agent assigned to work with him, and Yvonne De Carlo has a role as a woman with whom Morgan has been involved. The pacing is slow, and unsuccessful in its attempts to evoke the 1960s spy movie feel, instead tending toward the gritty 1970s atmosphere instead. There’s a bit of excitement toward the end, but not enough to salvage the movie.
Not recommended. Otto thinks you should avoid this movie.
Movie 466 for 2021.
