In The Mystery of Chess Boxing (original title: Shuang ma lian huan), a young man out to avenge his father’s murder at the hands of the infamous Ghost Face Killer first seeks training at a martial arts school where he is bullied by one of the advanced students but does get some learning from the cook. Later, he takes refuge with a chess master who takes him in grudgingly on account of his granddaughter’s interest. Meanwhile, Ghost Face Killer continues to work his way through the martial arts clan leaders who had fought him in the past, this time in each case killing his opponent. What will happen when Ghost Face Killer finds the chess master, a now-retired leader of the opposition to him?

  Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK, but not great.
