Tarzan (Lex Barker) works to resolve a situation in which members of a tribe suffering from plague are kidnapping women from neighboring tribes to sacrifice in the hope of averting the sickness. There’s a new Jane in this one, Vanessa Brown; this would be her only outing in the role. Barker is lithe and fit and convincing as the jungle man, and the plot offers some interesting elements, including a reliable guide / assistant (Robert Alda) to the doctor (Arthur Shields) who travels to find the source of the plague and cure those he can and the doctor’s nurse (Denise Darcel), who finds Tarzan attractive but is most proud of her standing as a nurse. Well worth the time for those who like the character or the genre.

Recommended. Otto finds this one pleasing enough to relax.

Movie 33 for 2021.
