Ranger Jack Steele (George O’Brien) goes undercover after accused killer Judith Alvarez (Rita Hayworth), who is leading a band of the dispossessed against the landgrabbers responsible, only to find his investigation revealing another likely culprit, and to have assorted complications arise — in the form of an ex-Ranger (Tim Holt) now with the Alvarez gang, and as a result of a growing romantic interest in the suspect. Professionally done, with good performances by the three leads, with O’Brien nearing the end of his B-western career, Tim Holt just starting his (in his first role at RKO), and Rita Hayworth just a couple years from stardom.
Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is worth a look.
Movie 561 for 2021.
