Poster for the movie Secret Agent of Japan

Secret Agent of Japan (Twentieth Century Fox, 1942)

In the days leading up to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, a somewhat shady nightclub owner (Preston Foster) gets tangled up with a British spy (Lynn Bari) and the Japanese forces in Shanghai when his club is used as the delivery spot for a coded letter with explosive contents. The leads are unimpressive, but Noel Madison is effective as the menacing Saito, an agent of Japan who employs both persuasion and force to try to get what he wants, and Victor Sen Yung has a good role as a Chinese lawyer who turns up at the oddest times.

Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK, but not great.

Movie 2 for 2022.
