As a new money-making venture, Slip (Leo Gorcey) and the boys turn Louie’s into an escort bureau, with the guys as the sophisticated escorts, while Louie (Bernard Gorcey) and his wife are away on vacation. They soon obtain some beautiful (and unlikely!) clients, including Joan Marshall (Adele Jergens), but the gals are part of a scheme to lure the guys away from the store to enable crooks led by Joan’s boyfriend (Harry Lewis) to use the store as a route for tunneling into the nearby bank. At the same time, Gabe (Gabriel Dell), who works for the bank, is being pressured to embezzle after Joan, who was feigning interest in him, has stolen a payroll he was carrying. There’s plenty of interest in this outing, including the amusing spectacle of the guys, and especially Sach (Huntz Hall), trying to be debonair, Louie’s worries and attempts at fun while on vacation, fights with the bad guys, and more. Fans of the gang will like this one.
Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK, but not great.
Movie 461 for 2021.
