Wandering hero Maciste (Kirk Morris) — hence the original title, Maciste contro i cacciatori di teste — rescues some people from the volcanic destruction of their island home, but upon their arrival at what should be a land of refuge, the folk are taken captive by the forces of Queen Amoha (Laura Brown), whose own nation is being plagued by vicious headhunters. Will the strongman be able to put an end to this menace and ensure a peaceful settlement between the villagers he has rescued and the people of the queen? There’s a fair amount of action, but the performances are only so-so, and the storyline and setting aren’t quite wild enough to make this one memorable.
Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK, but not great.
Movie 423 for 2021.
