Ad for the movie James Batman

James Batman (1966)

Fans of the 1960s Batman might want to take a look at this 1966 Philippine movie featuring the comedian Dolphy in a dual role as both Batman (including his alter-ego, Dolpho) and “James” (i.e., James Bond). The two heroes (with Batman aided by Robin) are commissioned to foil the evil organization CLAW, which is threatening to destroy the world, or much of the world, if its demands are not met within five days. This is an amusing, albeit at times incoherent, parody of spy films, and I’d be happy to watch some of Dolphy’s other movies, if I could find them with English subtitles.

Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK, but not great.

Movie 414 for 2021.
