Detective Thorwaldt Cornish (William “Stage” Boyd) and his friend, Dr. Steven Walcott (Hooper Ashley), investigate after Walcott first finds a human ear bone in the fireplace of his hotel room and then is struck down (temporarily) by a sniper while he talks with Cornish. Their inquiry, aided by magnifying spectacles, leads them to a young couple (John Harron and Claudia Dell) who are harassing the hotel because of the unexplained disappearance of the girl’s brother while they were staying at the hotel, though the hotel staff disclaimed all knowledge of her brother. Decent atmosphere and OK acting make for a watchable mystery with an unexpected resolution.
Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK, but not great.
Movie 364 for 2021.
