The Rio Kid (Fernando Luján) makes a habit of confronting those who claim to be the fastest with their guns; so far, he has vanquished every one. But the Kid has a secret, too: he is in fact a bloodthirsty vampire, and his drinking of the gunslingers’ blood improves his skill with a shooting iron, too. To the town that the Kid dominates come a young man (Rodolfo de Anda) with a desire to prove he is no coward, an old man who had ended up in prison because of the Rio Kid, and a couple brothers looking to make a name for themselves by taking out the Kid. Add in gypsies, fearful townfolk, and a ballad about a dead outlaw, and you have a fairly successful blend of the western and horror movie genres. Fans of weird westerns in particular will likely want to take a look.
Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK, but not great.
Movie 346 for 2021.
