A gloved killer strangles an unknown woman and has her body shipped to a girls’ boarding school that itself is full of secrets, and soon a murderer (perhaps the same) begins stalking members of the faculty and student body. Could the killer be one of the teachers, such as the handsome riding instructor (Mark Damon)? Or the weird groundskeeper (Luciano Pigozzi)? Or even one of the students? One of the students, Jill (Sally Smith), fancies herself an amateur sleuth and begins to investigate, tolerated but not encouraged by the police, in the form of Inspector Durand (Michael Rennie). The solution to the mystery isn’t particularly difficult to see coming, but the fairly light tone (despite the killings) and the prominence of the student detective keep this film interesting. Also known as The Young, the Evil and the Savage, Naked You Die, and The Miniskirt Murders, among others.
Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK, but not great.
Movie 316 for 2021.
