Rosalba Neri dominates in this horror picture, as a mysterious evil countess with an appetite for blood: she literally bathes in it at one point. Mark Damon plays twin brothers, one a reckless rascal, the other a studious sort, both after the fabled Ring of the Nibelungen, which is in the possession of the countess. Will either brother be able to withstand the temptations of the beautiful Neri? Stylish but a bit slow, the movie, originally titled Il plenilunio delle vergini offers some impressive sequences, including a grim sacrificial ceremony; some OK battles with the supernatural; and, disappointingly, an unsurprising surprise ending.
Mildly recommended. Otto judiciously thinks this movie is OK, but not great.
Movie 290 for 2021.
