Poster for the movie Mr. Moto's Last Warning

Mr. Moto’s Last Warning (Twentieth Century Fox, 1939)

Saboteurs working on behalf of a hostile government seek to foment an international incident and drive a wedge between allies by blowing up the French fleet when it visits the British in Alexandria. The clever and ruthless leader of the gang (Ricardo Cortez), who performs as a ventriloquist as a cover, outwits a secret agent on his trail and targets Mr. Moto (Peter Lorre) as well, and it will take all Moto’s ingenuity, plus some help from another, to thwart the plot. Virginia Field shines in a key role, and John Carradine does well with his, too.

Recommended. Otto finds this one pleasing enough to relax.

Movie 246 for 2021.
